The Starting Point
When we first connected, this plumber had a Wix site that hadn't been touched in two years. No Google Business Profile. Zero reviews online. His phone number appeared only in the footer — not in a click-to-call button, not in the hero section, nowhere obvious.
His Google rankings told the full story: not visible in the local map pack for "plumber Saginaw," and sitting somewhere around position 40+ in organic results — effectively invisible. He was getting almost all his business from word-of-mouth referrals, which is great when it's working but fragile when it isn't.
What We Changed
The work fell into three buckets:
- New website with service-specific pages. We built dedicated pages for each primary service: "Drain Cleaning Saginaw MI," "Water Heater Repair Saginaw MI," "Emergency Plumber Saginaw MI." Each page had a proper title, meta description, geo-targeted heading, and at least 300 words of useful content. Click-to-call in the hero of every page.
- Google Business Profile — claimed, optimized, verified. We set the correct primary category, wrote a geo-targeted business description, added service areas, uploaded photos of the work and the truck, and filled in every field Google allows. Verification took about a week.
- Review request system. Simple text message template sent to every customer within a few hours of job completion. Direct link to leave a Google review. No complicated CRM, no automation software — just a habit and a short message.
The Results at 60 Days
Sixty days after launch, the numbers were:
- Appearing in the Google map pack for 3 target keywords ("plumber Saginaw," "drain cleaning Saginaw MI," "water heater repair Saginaw")
- Average of 3 inbound calls per week attributed to Google, tracked via a call tracking number
- 14 new Google reviews in 60 days — from zero
What This Didn't Require
No paid Google Ads. No Facebook ad budget. No social media presence. No viral content or influencer partnerships. No elaborate marketing campaigns.
Just solid local SEO fundamentals applied correctly. A site Google can read. A GBP listing that tells Google where you are and what you do. Reviews that signal trust and recency. That's the whole playbook.
Could This Work for Your Trade?
Yes — plumbing, HVAC, electrical, roofing, landscaping, cleaning services, and most other local trades follow the exact same pattern. The specifics (which keywords to target, which service pages to build) vary by trade and location, but the underlying mechanics are identical.
We offer a free 20-minute call to walk through what this would look like for your business — your trade, your city, your current web presence. No pitch, no pressure. Just a clear picture of what's possible.
